Update, 6/13/18: All 151 selected applicants have been notified about their status and all remaining Local Guides will hear about their status by June 20th.
Over the coming days everyone who applied for this year’s Local Guides event, Connect Live 2018, will receive an email about whether or not they have been selected to attend. I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for submitting their applications and let you know how much fun the team had in reviewing the thousands (yes, THOUSANDS) of applications.
We have selected 151 Local Guides to represent the global community at Connect Live 2018. That’s right: you heard it here first that we selected an extra Local Guide to share information back with the community!
Every person selected was carefully reviewed by the team and chosen for a very special reason. While some may not share their status just yet, we ask you to be patient as they work through their excitement — and the details.
Overall, it was inspiring to see how committed many of you are to the Local Guides community on top of making fantastic contributions to Google Maps: helping your local community by adding new places, creating lists to help others exploring your area, and hosting meet-ups to connect locally, just to name a few. It was fun learning about your specific passions, too. Whether you were one of the vegan foodies, accessibility champions, or rappers (yes, there were rappers!), you help to keep Connect a warm and welcoming place for Local Guides no matter where in the world you may call home.
I’m proud to be a Local Guide and I look forward to seeing our global community grow over the coming weeks, months, and years, especially here on Connect.

I am very happy to be one among the qualified, for the ‘Google Local Guides Connect Live’ this year. It’s pleasure to be a part of such a global meet-up for the local guides. I have been a part of local guide family for the past four years. And this time I am eligible for the meet-up. I use to contribute to the maps whenever I use to travel, I won’t mind where it is or when it is. I belong to Kerala, known as the “Gods own country” and I am a countryman who lives a normal life in the Village. So I use to contribute the normal life of the common.There are many tourist destinations which are still forbidden to the world. So I stress on the destinations which are not yet recognized by the government as a tourist destination but provides better ambiance and pleasure so that the world will get exposure to such places. I believe, I will be one among the Local Guide Live selects Cheers
Hi @Ashish_Goyal_at_SG applications for Connect Live 2018 are closed. It depends on where you are in the world. The closing date was April 30th 11.59pm UTC, in American PST it was May 1st. Connections were open for several weeks, I’m sorry that you missed out but perhaps don’t leave it to the last second next year.

I can’t imagine how much work went into the process by your team, but you all deserve applause for dedicating yourselves to making dreams come true. Woot woot!
One of those days when you are feeling down and anxious and check your mailbox for no reason at all and suddenly you realize you got a very special email; an email that says

Thanks Google and thanks for everyone here for supporting and making me believe in myself again. I almost quit last year but I kept going.

I was just checking my email before heading to sleep at 3 AM, and I got the same email. I was a little perplexed by the title, since I wasn’t sure if it meant I got in or not… til I read “You’re In!”.
I am very excited as well and I don’t think I will be able to sleep for another hour.
