Thailand Tri-Meet - Phuket [RECAP]

Hello local guides!!! I hope are you doing great!

It’s been almost three months since my last Thailand tour. It was my first solo tour and I enjoyed it a lot. On that tour, I wanted to meet some local guides from Thailand and wanted to meet-up. So I created three meet-ups in these cities and I named it Thailand Tri-Meet! When I created these meet-ups many of my fellow local guides had wished me luck. I also wished I would be able to meet a few LGs but unfortunately, I couldn’t meet any. I met one Thailand local guide from Connect and we are in touch throughout my tour. Thank @Ant_Bad_Yogi for helping me.

Now I want to write the recaps of these meet-ups. I know it’s late. But it’s good to be late than never at all. I am going to write the recap of the first meet-up which is Thailand Tri-Meet - Phuket.

On 26 October morning, I left my hostel for my adventure day tour. The tour consisted of rafting, elephant trekking, zip-lining, and ATV riding. I enjoyed the day tour so much. After the tour, I returned to m hostel in the evening. And after getting myself refreshed quickly I went out to start the meet-up. No one had RSVPed or contacted me on the WhatsApp group. This didn’t discourage me to cancel the meet-up. I decided to do a photo walk to explore the town and upload photos to Google Maps.

An animation of 9 photos of different stores & restaurants of Jungceylon Shopping Center (Local Guide SaifIS)

First, I went to a nearby shopping mall (Jungceylon Shopping Center) by following Google Maps. Then I took photos of the mall and other stores, restaurants, events, etc. I always like visiting shopping malles and doing window shopping when I have time.

For the first time, I have seen buildings that use multilayers. I had seen this for many other locations in Thailand too.

After exploring the outside and front corner of the mall I entered the centered and say a child beauty contest was going on. Along with other visitors, I enjoyed the show for a while. It was interesting to see how these children were do modeling. ?

An animation of 4 photos of foods & McDonald's interior (Local Guide SaifIS)

Then I saw a McDonald’s in front of me and I decided to have my dinner early as I was hungry at that time. So I went in and tried McDonald’s for the first time in my life (McDonald’s is not available in Bangladesh.) I loved the chicken fry.

An animation of 5 photos water and lighting (Local Guide SaifIS)

After dinner, I enjoyed the water lighting of the shopping mall. I was lucky to see them as I had reached there in the evening.

An animation of 6 photos of Banzaan Fresh Market (Local Guide SaifIS)

After enjoying the lighting I left the Jungceylon and reached the other side of the mall. Then on Maps I saw there was a popular local market nearby. So I followed the Maps and reached the market. Banzaan Fresh Market is a very popular local market where locals shop and eat. I also saw that many tourists were also busying fruits and other groceries to cook their meals.

An animation of 5 photos of a roadside food park (Local Guide SaifIS)

Then I exited the Banzaan Fresh Market and reached the road. I saw a lot of street food courts. They were selling a variety of local foods. You can see that the foods are very interesting to see. ? I bought an orange juice and headed to the Phuket Bangla Walking Street to enjoy some nightlife.

An animation of 3 photos of Bangla Walking Street (Local Guide SaifIS)

I spent about an hour to explore the Bangla walking street. I saw magic, street dance, singing, etc. Then I went to the Patong beach and stayed a while. I got back to my hostel and uploaded the photos to Maps. Thus my first meet-up of Thailand Tri-Meet ended.

Even if the meet-up was attended only by me I enjoyed it a lot. It was like I was on a mission. ? Explore new areas, take photos, update maps!

Thank you!

Thank you so much for reading the recap. Let me know how it was. I will write the recaps of my two other meet-ups of Thailand Tri-Meet soon. Till then have a great time.

And if you are a local guide who has never joined a meet-up then please read why you should attend local guides meet-ups. To know when a meet-up is being hosted in your area keep an eye on this a meet-up page.

@SaifIS My gosh, your photos and recap are amazing. I have been waiting for your recaps and the wait is over. It is nice that you still continued the meet-up by yourself when there was no one RSVP. I didn’t know that you were alone, I thought you came with a group. I think we are the same, I’m a solo traveler as well. Thank you so much for sharing this nice recap with us. I’m looking forward to your next recap.

Hi @SaifIS !

I am very pleased to read that although nobody joined the meetup you enjoyed the walks!

The same happened to me the first time I hosted a meet-up and to a lot of my fellow local guides in Argentina too. It is a bit difficult to start, but my advise to you is that you must not surrender and keep trying. Little by little the community will start to grow in your country and your meet-ups will start to be more crowded very soon.

Your recap was great! Please let me know when you write the other ones!

A big hug from Buenos Aires, Argentina!

@Cecilita Thank you so much for these inspiring words. Yes, it’s a bit difficult to get started. I get a few local guides to join me in the meet-up I host in my country. I’m from Bangladesh. But these meet-ups we’re hosted in Thailand when I was traveling.

I just come from a wonderful meet-up today. It was great and many people joined me. I will write the recap soon and tag you.

Love from Bangladesh
