Thailand islands - Ao nang Krabi & Koh Pha Ngang

I decided my third times to Thailand to see the beaches, islands and go diving.

As we started our date late and it was also because of weekend, there was no more buses to Phuket, so we decided to go to Ao Nang Krabi from Bangkok Bus station and book a hotel near Ao Nang beach

Thailand South beaches is so crowded with lots of tourists compared with peaceful mountain and waterfal view in the North. I even dont think I was in Thailand but an international places.

When we reached Krabi, I think it was a better option to visit than Phuket.

A budget but experienced option is to do a combination of booking tour and self-visit by buying long tail boat tickets

From beach side, it is easy for us to get a return boat ticket to Railey beach where we could swim, walk to a cave and enjoy sunset.

The day after we took a tour near the hotel depart at 1pm to some islands. The boat sailed to some islands with white beach sand, green and clear water. At each place, we stop for swimming, relaxing by the beach. Barbecue dinner also included in the tour service.

The most impressive about night tour is to see the glowing microorganisim in the sea water at night. When you move in the water, the tiny creatures shine. And it surely creates you an amazing feeling to swim in dark see with only glowing beauty.

The cost of tour depends on how you choose the boat: wooden boat, big boat or small boat, food and drink because the islands is mostly the same. The tips is you can choose from any booth ticket, and choose the affordable for yourself.

As these beach cities are so much busy with tourist, so boat trip and van need to be booked from 1-2 days in advance. We actually by a combo ticket and get discount from a Malaysian Muslim girl selling tour/ticket at a small booth walking distance from our hotel. We are really satisfy with the service offer include LomPraya Express Boat ticket to Koh Pha Ngan.

The same as Krabi, Koh Pha Ngan is not as expensive as Koh Phi Phi or Koh Samui relating to accomodation and food. And the best thing that it is not as crowded as other islands. We rented a bike and choose a budget resort at 500B take us 20 mins ride

I decided to book 2 dives the next day to Sail Rock - one of the best dive site in the world.

Go diving more! as I remember a quote: “We dive not to escaple life, but for life not to escape us”

Hi @HanTruong

Wow, so amazing of your trip. Did you visit in Bangkok?

I would like to recommend the places to visit in Bangkok is the Grand Palace is the most famous attraction there is. It is very popular in Thailand. Have you ever been there before? I can share some photos of this place.

Yeah!!! The Grand Palace is really a must visit place in Bangkok, I really enjoyed the majestic of The Palace.

Besides, I want to share one activity that most tourists miss when visit the Grand Royal Palace, that is Khon performance, a project of Thai Queen and Grand Royal Palace to reserve the traditional culture practice. Please help me more with this information.

I wrote these in my blog: “The colorful and well-prepared performance, the very old story of Hanuman based on Hindu religion were retold by the face expression and movement of skillful artists, you seem to see real Hanuman with full of His characteristics

Hi @HanTruong

Thank you for your reply. Khon performance or Khon masked dance is a part of the Thai culture. Now it is difficult to see a pantomime performance. The reason is that we had a project of our Thai Queen and Grand Royal Palace to preserve this traditional cultural practice.

Khon is a high class performing art in Thailand that has elegance, beauty and dramatic performances that use choreography as a drama in a different way.

Did you like to watch the Khon performance?

Hi @Aruni ,

I really love the performance and admired the talented of Thai actors and actresses.

I strongly recommend travellers should not miss this.

Thank you for sharing about the performance.

Have a good day!

Hi @HanTruong ,

Our Earth is so beautiful, isn’t it?! Your photos totally described the quote “We dive not to escape life, but for life not to escape us”.

I would like to ask you what device did you use to capture the photos underwater? How did you feel while diving?

When I visited Thailand, I also enjoyed diving, but unfortunately I didn’t have the needed camera to capture the wonderful things I saw.

Here is a photo that I captured on my way to reaching Ko Samet:

Yeah! That’s also my favourite quote.

I dived with a dive buddy, she used a small camera for diving, took photos and share me after the trip. I already asked her if I can use these photos to share our diving experience. And she is happy too.

Diving at the first time was scary for me as I realized deep in the sea is not our living environtment. But with experience, and the desire to explore the world encourage me to keep practice. After 10 times diving, I feel so great in the water, relax and enjoy. I love the sea creatures more with their peaceful and beauty.

Your photos remind me of the boat trip to dive sites and ready to dive feeling!!!

I still need to practice diving more then buy a camera so I can capture great moment and take photos for dive buddy,

Hi @HanTruong ,

I loved reading your message. I guess the feeling to be diving is just so hard to describe because it is such a unique experience. Do you have any words to describe how was it to be there? Did you feel as if part of another world? What surprised you the most?

While I dived from a boat in Thailand, I remember the scenery was rich in colors, beautiful schools of fish and many corals.

What camera did you use to capture all those great shots?

Wow @HanTruong what a beautiful places and photos too!

I really like your way of traveling active, adventurous and with the desire to always try new activities and experiences!
Underwater pictures are amazing!

Thanks for sharing !

Bye,

David
