I believe 90% of Thai women like papaya salad or Som Tam. I’m the one of them The reason is of course, it’s a healthy dish (if not eat with sticky rice) with low calories and plenty of vegetables.
This picture is Som Tam Thad or papaya salad in tray which served in a large tray. Unlike normal papaya salad, the papaya salad in tray composes of papaya salad, rice noodles, Thai Northern style sausage, salt eggs, cashew nuts, and varieties of vegetables arranged in a tray. This is a shared dish, most people don’t mix all together in a tray, just scoop what you like to eat in your own dish and mix in your dish.
This menu just becomes popular 3-4 years ago because of its nice arrangement of papaya salad in a large tray, a variety of side dish and fun when sharing with friends.
Try it in major Thai Northeast style restaurants across Thailand especially in Bangkok.
@Aruni@CiineRd@Sheralyn I love the salads you guys have shared . Healthy food is a very essential part of life and salads are the prime part of healthy diet . Thanks for sharing
