Tet Holiday is going on in Hanoi

Happy Chinese New Year or Happy New year or Happy Tet is still going in the capital of Vietnam – Hanoi.

D

uring Tet Holiday, Most of vietnamese people(Whose are living in Hanoi from outside of Hanoi ) they usually go their Homeland provinces for better celebrations of New Year.

That’s why Hanoi is almost empty now. Even the most famous place in Hanoi Old Quarter(Heart of Hanoi) is vacant or empty , there are very few number of people most of them are Foreigners likes me are living in Hanoi during Tet Holiday.

But I’m really enjoying the real beauty of Hanoi & it’s seem more gorgeous at Night.

Hi @abdulhai3722 ,

Thanks for sharing with us.

It is indeed a great time to walk around the city, as it is a really rare sight of almost empty streets.

Do you have any difficulties finding shops and restaurants that are open during the season?

Much appreciated for mentioning me, @MashaPS . : ]

It is indeed really hard to find wholefood market as you have mentioned, @abdulhai3722 .

For the moment, the most advisable options are to try to order food or to be a guest at someone’s home. : ]

Stay steady and the shops would be working again soon!

Hi @abdulhai3722 , @helga19 ,

Happy new year! Let’s hope the year of the boar would bring us prosperity and happiness!

It is also my dream right now to go back and to experience once again the Tet atmosphere, with all the ambience and warmth of the family. : ]

Would the visit happened to be at the One Pillar Pagoda, Inga? I would love to visit the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum as well!

Thank you @sonnyNg for your reply.Sure,It was One Pillar Pagoda!

I like the Legend about this Pagoda.

It was built in 1049.The shape of the pagoda resembles a Lotus flower.

Accoding to the legend (as I remember) king Lee Thai Tone ,who had no heirs, once in a dream saw a goddness sitting on a Lotus flower and handed him a boy.The king married later on a young girl and they had a son.In gratitude the king built this pagoda.

During the Tet we liked to walk along the lake of the Returned Sword. This lake is located in the centre of Hanoi.I remember Turtle tower,it stands on a separate island,we saw there a huge turtle, which used to be in this lake and which is an exhibit now.

Do you know @sonnyNg , @MashaPS , @abdulhai3722 that in Moscow in trade centre Hanoi-Moscow there is copy One Pillar Pagoda ?

Best wishes,

Inga

Hi @helga19 ,

Thank you, as it reminds to cherish the story and legends of my country! : ]

I am not aware of the architecture, that is being specially built in the trade center, as I can feel the partnership and connection between Russia and Viet Nam!
