Our adventure in Plombières-les-Bains began when our mom, BarkingMice, and our nameless dad took us, Donder the Westie and Dingus the Cairn, on vacation tothis charming town nestled in the Vosges mountains, in the region known as “Grand Est.” From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by the town’s historic allure and picturesque streets. Plombières-les-Bains is renowned as the “village of 1000 balconies,” and it was easy to see why as we wandered. Each balcony, with its delicate ironwork and overflowing flower boxes, seemed to tell a story of its own, adding a unique charm to the already captivating scenery. We do have many talents (for one, we are excellent barkers), but unfortunately, mathematics isn’t our forte, so we stopped counting at three balconies, though there were so many more.
Our humans strolled through cobblestone lanes while we alternated between trotting beside them and lounging in our stroller, enjoying the gentle breeze and the warm sun. We’re of age, you know, so we need our moments of peace and quiet. The town’s beautifully preserved architecture, including enchanting villas, cute little farmhouses, and grand old buildings, felt like a trip back in time.
As we explored, the scent of delicious French cooking filled the air, enticing our noses at every turn and making our mouths water. Dingus, ever the curious one, tried to investigate every corner, while Donder maintained a dignified air, particularly impressed by the town’s elegant spa buildings. Our humans, however, were keen to enjoy local delicacies for lunch, and of course, we managed to snag a few tasty treats ourselves.
We also noticed numerous arts-related shops along the way, which piqued our interest. The displays of paintings, sculptures, and handmade crafts in these quaint establishments added an artistic flair to our adventure, sparking our curiosity with each passing storefront.
The warm, welcoming atmosphere of Plombières-les-Bains made it a perfect outing for all of us, blending history, charm, and plenty of dog-friendly spots. We give this enchanting town five enthusiastic barks!
