Meet up this time seems to be an amazing meet up. Invited as far as 2,000 kilometers from the Batu Local Guides Shelter, passing two different time zones, it was truly unimaginable before. However, the enthusiasm to share about the Local Guides to the eastern region of Indonesia made everything very enjoyable. Touchdown, Ternateee!
That morning, Saturday, October 13, 2018, from the Grand Dafam Bela Ternate hotel I drove to the Orange Ternate Castle Park. At the location, the members of several communities in Ternate City were waiting to be coordinated by Nuryani Amra. Also present at the event, the Head of the Investment Office of Ternate City, Mr. Omdi Jaja and his staff. After a brief introduction, it’s my turn to give an explanation of what Google Local Guides are and how to contribute to the Google Maps program. Most participants finally joined the Local Guides and were ready to contribute to the City of Ternate.
After a question and answer session about the Local Guides, participants were directed to take the bus that had been provided to get to the Sulamadaha pier which is about 13 km away and can be reached in 30 minutes. From here, the trip continues by riding a motorboat, crossing to Hiri Island. This trip presents a special view of the beauty of Hiri Island in front of the eye, and Ternate Island with Mount Gamalama towering mightily in the opposite direction. Unnoticed, we also arrived at the Togolobe pier in Hiri Island. Incidentally, the 2018 Hiri Island Festival is currently underway, which has been going on for several days. Participants immediately hunt for the best images in all corners of the dock. From here, the hunt continues to the natural attractions of the Batu Balubang Gurabala located on the other side of Hiri Island. Another charm of natural beauty is displayed in front of the eyes. Once satisfied hunting for photos, we returned to the Togolobe dock. While waiting for the motorboat, we again hunted for a photo of the kite game performed by the Indonesian Museum of Kites retainer around the pier.
After a while, the motorboat arrived at the dock. After lowering the passengers, it was our turn to board the ship. Crossing for about 20 minutes, we continued our journey to Dapur Ria, Tanah Tinggi Village, Ternate City. Here, there are several types of Ternate specialties that are truly appetizing. While enjoying the dish, several new members of Ternate Local Guides contributed their voices to sing songs to entertain the participants who were still full of enthusiasm. The program at Dapur Ria is also the closing of a series of events that have been held since the morning.
Hopefully, the inaugural event of Ternate Local Guides brings new enthusiasm for young Ternate people to contribute to Google Maps and make Ternate more global. With this meet up, it will certainly attract the attention of other Local Guides in Indonesia, and even in other countries. It is not impossible, Ternate City will become a baromater meet up Local Guides in eastern Indonesia.
Warm greeting from Indonesia
Brian
