Please look. There is even purple! This is not an illumination color.
Like the cherry blossoms, the autumn leaves in Japan are particularly beautiful and large. There are also geographical reasons.
The keyword is
- Japan is an island country
- The most common deciduous broad-leaved tree in the world
- Many seasonal winds (monsoon)

There is a clear contrast between the four seasons in Japan. It will change to pastel colors in spring, green in summer, vivid and colorful in autumn, and pure white in winter. Anyone can easily recognize that Japan is divided into four types. You can easily see the months without a clock.

Why is that so? This is related to the numerous seasonal winds. Another name for Japan is “Wind Country”. There are roughly 10 Japanese seasonal winds due to two large global monsoons. In addition, surprisingly there are over 150 kinds of wind names in Japanese. You should check that wind stories frequently appear in Japanese anime and movies.

150 kinds of winds make clear seasons. Then, is it only the influence of the wind that is said to be the most beautiful autumn leaves in the world? There is another important reason. This is because there are the most deciduous broad-leaved tree types in the world. Autumn leaves are limited to Europe and East Asia, and parts of North America and Canada. There are 13 types of deciduous broad-leaved trees outside Japan. In contrast, there are 26 types in Japan, twice as many. In other words, there are many colors. The Japanese wind blows there, making it extremely vivid.

Why are there many deciduous broad-leaved trees? This is because the varieties were not extinct due to the fact that Japan was an island country during the ice age 10,000 years ago. The sea around Japan is warm. One of the reasons why Japan is often referred to as a “mysterious and miracle country” is due to this geographical luck.

In addition, there is a “Japanese garden” in Japan. The rule of the Japanese garden is “Do not change nature”. It is in accordance with this strict rule that gardens and autumn leaves are planted and designed to enjoy the four seasons. As a result, they have completed many beautiful worlds like heaven.
There is definitely a reason you come to Japan in autumn and spring.
