#TeamJapan - past to the future! - craftsmanship Japan

Hello everyone!

This topic dates back to 1878. 200 years after the birth of the oldest shopping street in Japan, Asakusa Nakamise.This is the World Exposition held in Paris, Champ de Mars in 1878. Japanese art, crafts, and ceramics were exhibited at this World Exposition. Later, the trend of Japanese hobbies spread in Europe and America. (Japonism) A few years before Marty time warped to Hill Valley to help Doc. haha

Japonisme had a great influence on artists as well as painters. For example, Van Gogh and Claude Monet were very famous, and influenced the color sense of painters such as Degas. There are Japonisme ceramics that were popular among people at that time. The long-established ceramics in Saga, Japan, Koransha(香欄社) won the gold award in the ceramics category at the 1878 French World Exposition, which confirmed the popularity of Japonism.

Koransha(香欄社)A well-established ceramics store in Saga, Japan.

Let’s get back to 2019 on a hirorian! haha

This tea cup is a Japanese special cup popularly known as Japonism in Europe and America at the end of the 19th century. One of my antique ceramic collections.

Plum trees and flowers are beautifully drawn on the outside of the white ceramics.

On the back of the cup is written “Japanese special”(日本特製). This is Evidence of Japanese craftsmanship.

The reason why it became popular in Japonism is not only beautifully drawn pictures but also this thinness.

The thickness is as thin as 1 mm! Handle with care to be too thin.However, its thinness seems to have been popular as a Japonism with delicate Japanese technology. If you pour tea into this cup made using Japanese craftsmanship, the picture of plum blossoms will show through and it will be very beautiful. Heal the feelings of those who drink tea, and feel elegant.

Maybe this special Japanese tea cup has been sleeping in your home for over 100 years.

Look at the cupboard now!

The Tokyo Olympics will be held next year. Japan is very excited for next year’s Olympics. There is no doubt that Japonism is attracting attention from people all over the world.

Everyone, please see and feel the Japonism that keeps burning from the past to the future!

Thank you very much.

Regard

@955HIRO The design of the tea cups is so beautiful. The cup is more beautiful when there is tea in it. I see the beauty. That’s why they make the cups so thin. Thank you for sharing this informative content and beautiful photos with us.

Good evening. thank you for your comment. And I am very honored to praise my topic. As you say. It became thinner and thinner to show the beautiful pictures on the teacup. As a result, it became a tea cup with a thickness as thin as 1 mm. In order to achieve a thickness of 1 mm, which is said to be impossible, it seems that various trials and errors have been done, such as the composition of ceramic materials and how to bake. Thank you very much. Regard☕

Hey @955HIRO , I know from my university professor, that the first products of Japanese art and artisan-ship to capture extensive demand in Europe were ceramics. When I was in Japan I went to the pottery club at the university and it was very interesting, but very hard. However I like Japanese ceramics and thank you for sharing this beautiful cups with us!

Hello. @Ivi_Ge

You learned about mass imports of Japanese ceramics at university! Great!

This tea cup is a cup exported from Japan to Europe in large quantities at that time.It’s great that you and I learn about this Japanese teacup in each country and that you and I exchange opinions about it! Hello. thank you for your comment. I am very honored to be able to share the splendor of Japanese ceramics. Ceramics are wonderful things that can be used semi-permanently if treated carefully. It is a tea cup that I want to use for about 500 years. If I eat pizza while having tea in this tea cup, I think it will be the best pizza:pizza:Thank you very much.
