Hi, dear all,
This massive Lamp is almost a monument by itself! This heritage lamp has much importance above its size.
The concept is based on “Pancha Dala” (Five Petals).
Example:
- If you take layers - there are 5 layers of Lamps; two small layers at the top & 3 big ones below.
- If you take the shapes, there are 5 shapes:
- Typical 5 wick Lamps
- Peacock with hanging Lamp
- Peacock with hanging bell
- Hanging Bell alone
- Hanging Lamp alone.
On the top is Goddess Mahalakshmi seated in the lotus with two typical ‘Vyali’ (a mythological animal/creature) surrounding Her = “Prabha” around her.
On July 27th 2019, we had a great, multi-location meetup in Chennai; during the meet, the Anna Centenary Library, Chennai also was one of the destinations. This beautiful lamp was found in the main lobby of this famous building.
