All Google/Connect Moderators and all my fellow local guides around the world. Today i am going to introduce a very prestigious temple (Chamunda Devi Temple) which is located in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh, India, this temple has a huge importance and devotees from different states of India visit here in every month. So by saying "Jai Maa Kali" let’s get started.
The temple is dedicated to Goddess Chamunda/Kali (Black) which is known as Goddess of War.
The temple stands on the spur of a hill at a high point and gives a magnificent view of the river Ravi and the beautiful Chamba town, you can see the beautiful ranges of Himalays from this point.
The temple consists of a square sanctum and open mandapa in front over a raised platform.
This temple is one of the major holy place in Himachal Pradesh and it’s totally accessible by road.
The roof of the temple is constructed with pyramidical shape and the whole temple is made of slates stones as you can see in the above picture.
The roof is supposed by 4 carved wooden pillars at the 4 corners of the temple.
The roof of the temple is made up of Lantern type and is divided into 9 squares by cross beams.
The entire roof of the temple including the beams is beautifully carved with floral designs and sculptural works.
The beams of the temple is carved with images of male and female deities, Rishis Gandharvas (Sages), asuras (demons), flying figures, animals and birds.
A huge Brass Bell situated at the entrance of the main temple gate.
The temple was declared protected as a monument of National Importance with notification no. 1634/ Dated: 17-9-1952.
When Goddess Ambika was sitting at the top of the hill, the two devils namely Chanda and Munda tried to disturb her on which she got angered and turn into Goddess Kali in tiger skinned Sari and a wreath of skull to kill the demons and after killing them Goddess Ambika declared that Kali would now be worshipped as Chamunda devi.
Statues of other Gods and Goddess also kept there.
A tank also located nearby temple which is used by devotees for bathing before worship.
How to reach at the Temple ?

By Train: The nearby railway station is Pathankot railway stationwhich is located at a distance of around 120 km from Chamba and the remaining journey you can completed by using public transport which is mentioned above.

@TravellerG Thank you for tagging me. Yes, I enjoyed reading this post a lot.
Your photos are really nice and your detailed description is so informative and useful.
Looking at this 700 years old temple I can just imagine how many people have visited such spiritual place. The view on the Himalayas from the Temple is amazing.
Jai Maa Kali. Himalayas are always graceful @IshantHP_ig They are the pride of India, cradling many Temples. Nice pictures and description given by you. One small suggestion, devils means bhooth, demon is the correct word for asura, you have mentioned it later. Thanks again for posting for #TeamIndia.
I’m totally agree by your suggestion which you have mention in your reply, so i want to share my personal experience about the temple; actually i frequently visit Chamunda Devi Temple whenever i feel less motivated or the stress of work so the sound of bell, aroma of dhoopbatti (a stick containing fragrance of flowers with some aromatic compounds) and chanting the mantras(words used during worship in Hinduism) all these combination make my mind more stable and devotional. This temple has a great importance in the mind of every local people however people from other locations also visit during Navaratri (holy month of Goddess in month of September).
Navaratri is made of two words Nava(nine) and ratri (night) so during this month we worship up to late night for 9 days so that the Goddess keep everyone happy and free from all diseases.
During the holy month dham (a public service of serving food without any cost) to all the incoming devotees. It’s to be believed that feeding to a hunger person is the purest form of worship so during this time we volunteer in the good work so that we can get some good wishes from the devotees.
There are some other prestigious temples in my hometown and every temple is important for us and if you’re planning for India trip then most welcome in India
