I’m back with another exciting post which is related to an international crafts mela(fair) in Faridabad (Haryana) located in northern state of India. I explored the overall mela in just one day(3rd February) with some of my fellow local guides from Faridabad and i was curious to share my incredible experience with all of you.
So let’s start with some important facts about Surajkund International Crafts Mela.
Some Incredible facts about Surajkund Crafts Mela:
- Celebrated At: Surajkund,Faridabad, Haryana
- Celebrated during: 1st February to 16th February 2020
- Partner Nation: Uzbekistan
- Theme State: Himachal Pradesh, India
- Main Attractions: Rich showcase of regional and International Crafts and traditions.
- Every year millions of visitors came here to explore the rich culture and customs of different countries.
- More than thousands of foreign tourists also take part in it.
- This mela is unique because it showcases the richness and diversity, handloom and cultural fabrics of India.
- It’s largest Crafts Fair in the world.
- At least 20 Countries & all states of India participated in Mela.
- Mela organised by Surajkund Mela Authority(SMA) & Haryana Tourism in collaborate with Union Ministries of Touriusm, Textiles, Culture and External Affairs.
- For 34th edition of Surajkund Mela, partner nation is Uzbekistan.
These are hand made dolls and looking so realistic. The price of each doll is 1000 INR.
As you can see the dolls in different costumes which truly describe the culture & tradition of incredible India.
The sculptures of Buddha was quite popular in the mela and all these are hand made. I’m really amazed to see such kind of talents which is truly unpredictable.
I have captured lots of pictures related to Lord Buddha but i’m sharing some of best with you.
Here’s another example of creativity, these creatures are totally hand made and manufactured by some kind of fibre and wood.
For a realistic view the artist used different kind of material for skin & horns of animals.The price of each creature around 2000 to 5000 INR.
These decoratives were the main attraction of the mela and they really fascinate the visitors from different staes and different countries.

HOW TO TAKE THE TICKET FOR SURAJKUND MELA ?
There are total two modes for taking ticket:
-
Directly from the ticket counter of mela.
-
By taking a online(e ticket) from bookmyshow website.
I prefer you to take a online ticket breacuse mela ticket counter quite busy.
TICKET PRICE ?
The ticket for each visitor is 120 INR
HOW TO REACH AT SURAJKUND MELA ?
There are total 3 modes to access the mela
1. By Bus: If you live outside Delhi then Kashmere Gate ISBT is the nearby bus stand and the remaining journey you can cover by DTC bus or Delhi metro.
2. By Train: If you want to travel by train then New Delhi Railway Station is the nearby railway station.
3. By Air: Nearby airport is IGI Airport New Delhi.
