Taqah View Point, Oman

My wife and I visited Salalah in Oman on 7 & 8 February. We have been to Oman many times and enjoyed every time. This was our first visit to Salalah.

New Zealander have good relations with Oman and I am always greeted with friendship at the passport control at airports and land border crossings. This time was no different and where ever we went, we were greeted with genuine friendship and hospitality.

Below I share a photo of the Taqah Beach View Point, which we visited at 8am on the 7th February. It was so quiet and mesmerising. This was the first place we visited on the day.

Very nice shot @TheEagleEye , it looks like a great place to clear you mind.

I’m slowly planning a trip Dubai and I was actually thinking to include Oman if it’s convenient.

Is that something you would recommend?

Hi @MortenSI , thanks for your message.

In regards to your question. Dubai, well I just read your Introduce me profile and see you like big cities, so I won’t try and put you off visiting Dubai. I don’t enjoy big cities so much and the main reason I go to them is for business. When visiting the uAE, I suggest visiting the mountains of Ras Al Khaimah if you enjoy hiking, and also visit Abu Dhabi as there are a lot of nice places to. I enjoy Abu Dhabi more than Dubai.

Oman, one of my favourite countries. Muscat is amazing for a city built a lot around mountains. Go down the coast from Muscat, or visit the mountains and wadis. If you get a chance visit Salalah, but now, September will be the next best time to visit because it is coming into cyclone season. September it will be very green.

Happy journeys.

Dubai is definitely not for everyone @TheEagleEye and I know what to expect. I usually like cities with e rich history a lot more, but Dubai is just a place I have to see.

September sounds like it might be a bit too hot for me, though I’m not sure what it’s actually like that time of year. I’ve been thinking about a winter visit but maybe you’ll have some advice on that.

The mountains are hereby noted! I love when I can mix a city vacation with a bit of nature. It’s a great way to take a break and slow down.

@MortenSI Dubai & all off UAE, very hot from April to end of September, so difficult in the heat if you aren’t used to it. Middle East, best time to visit from October to end of March, Oman between near end of September to end of February.

I look forward to seeing your post in the future of visit to the Middle East.

That’s what I thought @TheEagleEye and I don’t cope very well with extreme heat. Anything above 30 degrees Celsius is like and oven for me.

I’m used to the Danish summer of usually no more than 25 degrees.

I will make sure to write a post about it if I manage to visit anytime soon!
