Taqah Castle, Oman

I recently visited Taqah Castle, which is in the Dhofar Region, 33 kms east of Salalah in Oman.

Taqah Castle was the residence of Sheikh Ali bin Taman Al Ma’shani, who was the Grandfather of the recently deceased Sultan of Oman, Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

This castle was built in the early 1900s, so not so old compared to other castles in the north of Oman.

The castle is now a museum, and it is really interesting to visit. There are great exhibits, and although currently undergoing some restoration, it is in nice condition and most areas accessible.

I added the photo of Sultan Qaboos bin Said because I have so much appreciation to him for what he did for Oman, and being a man of peace. He has been a great leader and a role model for all Omani people to be friendly and loving to all.
