I wanted to share this with you because I think It´s a great idea to create engagement with clients and improve brand loyalty.
Jockey Plaza is the biggest mall in Lima, Perú (not for long though, there is a bigger one coming up at the end of the year). It was founded back in 1997 and since then it´s been improving quite a bit, relentlessly.
We all agree that shopping malls are all about meeting sales objectives and that´s fine. But what I find fascinating is when they decide to implement actions to help. In this mall, we can find several zones that are called “working zones” for clients who need to turn on their laptops and finish something urgent. Perks are as follows:
- Free high-speed wifi
- Cellphone chargers
- Comfortable desks and chairs to hit the books
There are aprox. 5 zones with space for 12 clients per zone. All is Free
So, if it happens that you are walking around this shopping we aware of these benefits.

That’s great innovation. In South Africa they haven’t implemented these spaces in malls but they do have places they call “creative work spaces” with the amenities and features you described above.
Some coffee shops and restaurants also have plugpoints for people on-the-go and there is usually free WiFi available on request but the speed quality is usually slow.
