“Emir Bashir II of the Shihab dynasty, who later became the ruler of the Mount Lebanon Emirate, built the palace between 1788 and 1818 at the site of the Druze hermitage. After 1840, the palace was used by the Ottomans government.” Wikipedia The palace hosts a rich history of art in the form of sculptures and beautifully crafted and detailed mosaics. As you tour the palace you can imagine royalty sitting on pillows and hosting important guests from far off lands. There is also an area where the residents had their baths in the Turkish tradition. You can visit the outer courtyard via the embedded StreetView image below and the last embedded 360 tour contains links to an album with images from the masterfully decorated interior. Enjoy !!

What an incredible looking palace @Nick-Hobgood ! Is it full of tourists? Do they have an entrance fee and tours as well?
Hi @Nick-Hobgood ,
Places where people used to sit on pillows and host guests from far off lands sounds just like the spot I would like to visit!
Whenever I travel to a foreign city, the first thing I want to see is a castle or a palace. I always learn some facts about the location of the place and its history. Royalties often have interesting lives.
Thank you for sharing your photos. I liked the one with the stained glass the most!
