Taka is translated as Rupee on Maps which is wrong.

Hello Local Guides team!

A few days back, I’ve seen that on Google Maps in Q/A or reviews “Taka” (Currency of Bangladesh) is translated as “Rupee” (Currency of India). Taka and Rupee are completely different currency. Usually,1 Rupee = 1.2 Taka and this is confusing people.

On a other note, in West Bengal (state of India) most people speaks Bengali/ Bangla language. And as per I know, they pronounce “Taka” while using Rupee. This is maybe the cause for this wrong translation.

This might not directly your matter but I would like to draw an attention of Translation team throughout you guys.

I’m tagging @TraciC and @SoniaK apu. Please have a look.

Thanks,

Have a good day

Hello, @MashaPS

The question or answer is alright. But the problem with Google’s auto translation. Taka and Rupee are completely different currency of two different country and not equal. Google Translation is making problem here.

Thanks for your time.
