Taiwan’s Pineapple 🍍 Tarts : Trying at Home

Dear Foodies,

During my stay in Singapore, especially around Chinese New Year times, people were gifting each other this treat: Pineapple Tarts, Cakes and Cookies. These are famous treats in South East Asia and known for their amazing taste.

I moved to Munich a few months ago,and I couldn’t come across with this great taste. Therefore I tried to bake it at home myself today. Result isn’t remarkable but not bad as well for a start ?

In order to make the pineapple tarts, you have to make the pineapple ? jam first, which you will use as a filling. To make it I have used a food processor to purée pineapple and boiled it until thick with some sugar.

For dough you have to use 2 egg yolks, 100 gr condensed milk, 350 gr butter and flour…

When there is a will, there is a way guys :sparkles:

Buon appetite ?

@EsinHezer I am from Singapore! This is definitely one of my favorite foods - in fact for each Chinese New Year, this is the only thing I buy.

Congratulations I think you were quite successful in making it. Pineapple tarts is one of the priciest goodies to buy because of the ingredients required, the amount of time and effort required to make the pineapple paste. In fact, so many people just buy ready-made pineapple filling.

I see you have also tried to make different designs. We have both closed and open faced ones. Personally I am into the open faced style.

Thank you for sharing some of our great food and culture. With more practice, I think your next batch will be even better.

@EsinHezer wow! Looks yum :yum::yum::yum:.

Can’t wait to eat them.

Oh @EsinHezer ,

Thank you for sharing the recipe of pineapple tarts with us.

I have already saved it and hopefully will find some time to prepare them soon.

I’ve never tasted and seen the ‘original’ ones, but on my opinion you’ve managed to cook them the best way.

Dear @MashaPS ,

First of all many thanks for your comments. I loved my experience of baking pineapple tarts at home.

I brought the rest of the cookies to my office today and all gone very fast  I’m working in Munich now and I was working in Singapore before, and I have carried this great experience with me along, and shared with my diverse team members in the office. It’s amazing to see that food has a great bonding power among people :sparkles::cookie: :sparkles:

If you try them, grateful if you can let me know how it turns out.

Best Regards,

Esin

Hey @EsinHezer ,

I promise to show you the result when I happen to bake them. Are you preparing the jam from a fresh pineapple or it is possible to use those in cans?

By the way, since your colleagues finished the tarts so fast, this is definitely proof that you have done a great job.

Many thanks for your reply @MashaPS .

I used fresh pineapples :pineapple: for this recipe. I run 2 pineapples through a food processor and then boiled them with some sugar until thick. I think canned ones will do the work as well but I think raw pineapples are healthier, so I went through this option.

Yes my colleagues are diverse, and they all liked it, so I strongly recommend you to give it a try

Lots of love from Munich,

Best Regards

Esin
