What is the Explore the Maps Challenge?
Every fortnight, we will share with you the icons and hints of famous places of any one country here. When you find that place, you have to answer it in the quiz given here. You have to choose the correct answer from the four options given below each question.
Country of this week’s challenge: Taiwan

Taiwan, officially the Republic of China, is a country in East Asia. It shares maritime borders with the People’s Republic of China to the northwest, Japan to the northeast, and the Philippines to the south. (Source: Google maps)

- It is the only surviving railway roundhouse in Taiwan
- This museum is known for housing the world’s largest violin collection.
- In 2003, the temple was inducted into the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Culture Heritage Conservation.
- This building is representative of traditional Kaohsiung culture.
- This popular religious culture attraction covers an area of more than 100 hectares.
- It is Taiwan’s largest Confucian temple complex.
- It is the third public arts museum in Taiwan.
- It is known as one of the Four Great Gardens of Taiwan.
- The landmark of Tunghai University is the church designed by I.M. Pei.
- It is almost 300 years old and the oldest temple in Taiwan.
- The area is 250,000 square meters and it is the attraction most visited by foreign tourists.
- The memorial hall was built to commemorate the great founding father of R.O.C., and was built on his 100th birthday.
- It is the largest recreational and educational center in Taiwan.
- The museum is home to hundreds of thousands of historical relics that make up the world’s most comprehensive and precious collection of ancient Chinese artifacts.
- Its grand and magnificent architectural style is similar to that of the Taihe Dian Imperial Palace in Beijing, Mainland China, and symbolizes the martyrs’ brave spirit.
- The theater is designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito.
- This museum was opened in 1988, and it has a total of 24 exhibition halls.
- It is located in one of the most famous skyscrapers in the world,which was once the world’s tallest building from 2004 to 2010.
