Today I would like to tell you about one of the beautiful island –SYMI.
It is mountainous and includes the harbor town of Symi .
The economy of Symi was traditionally based on the shipbuilding and sponge industries. The population reached 22,500. Symi’s main industry is now tourism.
Symi is located about 41 kilometres (25 miles) north-northwest of Rhodos.
It is easily to get from Rhodes by ferry.
Symi attracts with its colorful houses and relaxing atmosphere, picturesque villages, cypress groves and excellent beaches. A one-day trip should not be limited, because the island is a godsend for lovers of unexplored routes.
In the capital of the island you can spend long hours walking through the picturesque streets and enjoying the traditional architecture of Symi. It became the highlight of the island.
The city is formed by two settlements — Yalos and Chore, and each has its own charm. The colourful Symi houses are decorated in pastel colours and are decorated with carvings.
On the island of Symi there are dozens of churches and chapels. But the main religious monuments are two monasteries, for which pilgrims come to the island.
From rest it is impossible to leave without real sea sponges. Their prey is a real “religion” For Local Residents And the case that the island’s population has long been engaged in. Sponges are sold everywhere and are presented in any size.

It is really very beautiful island.Every year a lot of tourists from Rhodos visit it.But they don’t live there ,the island is small and there are no many hotels.Every year they paint they nice and colorful buildings for attraction tourist.The color of water is really dark blue,it is amazing.
I am very glad that you like my post and this island Symi or Simi.It is really picturesque!Colorful houses,dark blue water,a lot of seafood.But this island tourists visited when they live in hotels in Phodos.,because island is very small.We get there from Rhodos by ferry.
I love Greek island very much.I have visited Greece 6 times and I am going to continue .
