I have choose this topic as it is quite challenging and broad to search for good tasty Indonesian foods in Sydney. One of the better way to say in an Indonesian saying is, “Malu bertanya, sesat di jalan!” or in English, “shy to ask, lost on the road!” It is the local Indonesian citizens or residents who knows the best culinaries around to show the way for others who may be visiting Sydney from Indonesia or event other parts of the world.
In the suburb of Kingsford, Indonesian restaurants used to and still famously established everywhere together with other food restaurants from all around the world mostly Chinese, Malays and Thais. The development of this suburb itself has been quite interesting with new light rail is being built which means no more parking spot in the main street, Anzac Parade which is located in the front of these restaurants. A few restaurants had closed down to retirement and other reasons, however, the most famous Indonesian restaurants with great traditional Indonesian food available here today are Ayam goreng 99 which is famous for the grilled chicken, Indorasa for various Indonesian dishes, Sedap Rasa which is famouse for the Padangese food and Shallom for its hottest ever 'Sambal Shallom" or its signature “Shallom chilli sauce”. The latest one for example is Cin Yen, an Indonesian Medanese (north Sumatra) food which is influenced by Chinese and Thai food reflecting the owners background. for example: Crispy Aceh style Chicken and Crispy roast pork fried with Chinese brocccoli. I hope this local guide about Indonesian food in Sydney can help others as I was greatly helped by others during my holiday/travel journey somewhere else in other parts of the world. It also means a lot to be able to share our local culture and help our local economy as we are part of a bigger community who needs each other in many ways!!!
