Sweets and Sulaymaniyah!

I love my sweet city and its sweets and pastries, since I’m a big fan of good and delicious foods and Sulaymaniyah is really famous for its tasty restaurants I really want to have some pistachio (Baklawa or Kunefe) after every heavy meal I have because it’s recommended to have sweets after eating food to help your digestive system. I will go and have some anyway even if it’s not healthy. However, in this post I would like to share some info about 5 best pastries in town that you can enjoy while you stay or visiting this beautiful city.

- Tofiq Halwachy

Halwachy is one of the oldest pastries in the city and its a part of this city’s history, as they served Kurdish sweet “Halwa” many years ago and now in the same name they provide verity of sweets. What I love about this place is that they have best Kurdish Gazo that you can get in the whole country in which tourist say if you don’t get Gazo from Halwachy that means you didn’t visit Sulaimaniyah at all.

- Said Rashid Paqlachie

Paqlachie is also one of the oldest in town, as they claim they have been serving since 1918. Recently, they made a revolutionary move to add some new sweet plates that people really love and they also opened in two new locations, I love their grilled, smoked you name it Kunefe with pistachios, I think you should try it too.

- Istanbul Sweets

This is a mixed Kurdish-Turkish pastry that people love because of its low sugar and special taste. They also have couple of I don’t know what they call sweets that you need to try it by yourself but you will thank me eventually.

- Halabi Sweets

This is the best Syrian pastry in town that have very special types of sweets in which they use a very rare and special type of cooking oil that you smell as soon as you enter the store. This is the oldest Syrian sweet that I remember and I also go there when I’m in the mood for some Syrian sweets.

- Taqana Sweets

This place is quite a new and modern pastry that provides variety of sweets and their secret is that they make it in small sizes so people love that because they want to have sweets but not much, also heard that people love this place because it has the same taste but smaller which will lower your sugar intakes.
