Sweetness in Sofia: My Visit to CinnaMom's Bakery

Ever had your diet plans ruined by a bakery window?
That’s exactly what happened to me in Sofia, Bulgaria!

The “Come In” I Couldn’t Resist

I was walking around Sofia, minding my own business, when BAM! - a bakery window full of colorful, amazing-looking pastries stopped me in my tracks.
My brain said “You’ve already had three desserts today!” but my eyes wouldn’t stop staring.

As I stood there having this inner battle, the owner spotted me from inside and yelled out, “Come in, come in!” with such a friendly smile that my willpower crumbled faster than a dry cookie.
So much for that diet I promised myself!

Pastries That Made Me Forget Calories Exist

Inside, the place smelled AMAZING. Cinnamon, sugar, fresh bread - you know, all those smells that make diets impossible. Glass cases were filled with treats that looked like they belonged in a fancy food magazine - rolls with fresh fruit on top, chocolate-covered delights, and cinnamon rolls that were practically calling my name.

When I tried explaining I was watching my calories, the owner laughed and started telling me why her pastries “weren’t that bad.” Yeah, right! But her enthusiasm was so real that I found myself chatting with her instead of running away.

The Cool Story Behind The Sweet Stuff

Here’s what made my visit extra special - this wasn’t just any bakery. The owner and her team are Ukrainian women who left Kyiv because of the war. They came to Bulgaria and thought, “What can we do now?” Their answer: bake amazing things!

They built this cute little bakery from zero, created these beautiful treats, and now have a growing business. Talk about making lemonade when life gives you lemons (or in this case, making cinnamon rolls when life gets tough)!

Too Good Not To Try

Of course I ended up trying one of their cinnamon rolls. My diet plan officially gave up and went home at this point. The roll was perfectly soft, not too sweet, and so good I almost ordered a second one for “my family”.
Diet who?

While eating, we talked more about their dreams to maybe open more bakeries in other cities someday. They miss Ukraine but have created something special here in Sofia.

Those look delicious, @abermans! What was your favorite flavor? Can you link their business listing so we can peruse?

The base of everything there is effectively a cinnamon roll with some topping on it.
I tried the pistachio, orange and tiramisu…and I loved most the salted caramel.
Beloved preferred the berries one.
