I am not really fond of sweets, but when I planned to go to Pyatigorsk (Stavropol region of Russia) I was recommended by my friends to taste the famous “Anna Pavlova” dessert in “Hermitage” cafe&restaurant just in front of the main railway station. This dessert named after one of the greatest Russian ballet dancers of XX century is actually a meringue covered by whipped cream, fresh strawberries, blueberries and exotic flowers. It is served in many cafes and pastry-shops in Moscow, but I was told that in Pyatigorsk, especially in “Hermitage” it was better and cheaper. The point on Fevralskaya street, 1a (near the main railway station) is a small cafe with 4 or 5 tables, however it has a great variety of cakes, pasties, pancakes and chocolates, tea and coffee are also served. Paying no attention to all these small temptations I ordered “Anna Pavlova”. It was not very cheap (the portion you see on the picture costed about 10 Euro), but it was very fresh, so it was consumed completely by my wife and 2 sons in 2 minutes. I managed to have only a small bite. I suspect Anna Pavlova was also sharing such a dessert with her family and friends and that enabled her to retain slim and pretty through all her life.
