Swan Lake Narach (Нарочь) - “Little Wonder of the World” of Belarus

Lake Narach (Belarusian: На́рач, Russian: На́рочь) is a “little wonder of the world” for Belarus, it is a lake in north-western Belarus, located in the basin of the Vilya river. It is the largest lake in Belarus. It has got the name “Belarussian Sea” for its dimensions (a surface area of 79.6 km2 ). Also it is one of the cleanest lakes of Belarus and attracts a lot of tourists with its beauty.

It’s really a mute swan kingdom, you can see them everywhere. It is very beautiful, but it has a reverse side: you should swim in the lake carefully because of allergic disease cercariosis (the swimming is allowed only far from the beach from the pontoon, for the short time and rinsing is adviced after each swimming).

Besides visiting the lake itself you can walk through coniferous (spruce and pine) forests nearby, where the air is cristally clean, gather mushrooms and enjoy the nature.

You mentioned the problem of swimming in the lake because of allergic disease __cercariosis…__what about fishing, do they still fish there? The lake has a long history and as well as at Riga I believe, it was the place of a failed Russian offensive against the Germans during WWII.

@Selvamani_R Maybe bad translation, my English is not ideal at all. I mean “визитная карточка” - visiting card or business card, something, that differ our country abroad and well-known all over the world. I will rewrite it later.

На Нарочи я была всего один раз, но по настоящему влюбилась в это озеро. Если говорить откровенно, оно впечатлило меня больше, чем Синевир. Синевир красив иначе, больше за счет красивого интересного подъёма с живописными ручьями, смерековых лесов вдоль берега, но Синевир - небольшое озеро.

Возможно Нарочь так впечатлила меня от того, что я не ожидала увидеть такого в Беларуси. Озеро действительно огромное. Лебеди, очень много, и взрослые и лебедята, это очень красиво.

В санатории Нарочь отдыхала свекровь с моим сыном, мы приезжали в гости, снимали квартиру в поселке Нарочь. Кстати, небольшой, но очень уютный поселок. Вход на территорию санатория свободный, гуляли там все вместе. Санаторий, в общем как и весь город и все озеро окружен лесами (в Беларуси леса в основном хвойные - ели и сосны), ездили по грибы, грибов в Беларуси много.

Единственный недостаток, мы так и не решились купаться, была жаркая погода, рядом огромное озеро, обидно. Хотя с понтона вроде как можно и люди купались. Местные купались и без понтона, говорят, ну покраснеет, почешется, у всех по разному, у кого больше, у кого меньше. Поэтому ехать лучше, когда прохладно, чтобы купаться не хотелось.
