I recently spent a week in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka. I also met with a few Google Local Guides(Indunil, Dasuni, and Rumal) there and we spent the whole time together. Wait, there were three local guides. So it’s an LG Surfing meetup. We had a great time surfing, working remotely, and exploring the local area.

We started our trip by taking a few days of surf lessons at the Arugam Bay Surf School. We learned the basics of surfing, such as how to paddle, pop up, and ride a wave. After the lessons, we were able to practice our skills on our own at Main Point, the most popular surf spot in Arugam Bay.
In the daytime, I worked remotely from my laptop at a local cafe. I was able to find a quiet spot with a good internet connection, and I was also able to take breaks to go for a swim or surf.
In the evenings, we would go out to eat at the beachside restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the fresh seafood and the lively atmosphere. We also met some other surfers and travelers, and we had some great conversations.
Having a cool beer in the evening and looking at the sunset by the beach with friends was so amazing
Note:If you are buying liquor it’s bit expensive in Arugambe. There is one Beer store in the middle of the town but they are charging a little premium claiming it’s restaurant price. There is one liquor store outside the town but they also charge extra.
Overall, we had a wonderful time in Arugam Bay. It was a great place to learn to surf, work remotely, and relax on the beach. We would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for an adventure.
