Support Local Business: local and rural women joined Cooking & Food-Beverage training

Hello all guides,

It has been a while. I was super busy with my work but at the same time; I also feel proud.

Last week, I spent the whole week facilitated the training provided to 22 women from 6 institutions for Cooking and Food and Beverage training with a restaurant in Siem Reap. The purpose was that they can utilize this skills upon return back home and also use them to host visitors.

  • Members from 06 tourist destinations were invited to join the training for 5 days and it focuses on how to cook food to meet standard and also how to serve visitors, both food and drinks.
  • These ladies have not been trained properly before. They learnt from previous generations and done it follow its regional tradition or habit.
  • Some of them will even open coffee shop and small restaurant upon returning back to their village.

This group, we had members from 06 community based ecotourism sites:

  • Koh Han Community based ecotourism, Stung Treng
  • Borey Osvay Community based ecotourism, Stung Treng
  • Phnom Chumrok Sat community based ecotourism, Stung Treng
  • Dataveuk Community based ecotourism, Preah Vihear
  • Chak Angre community based ecotourism, Preah Vihear
  • Taing You community based ecotourism, Preah Vihear

In March, there will be two more groups for another 48 pax, and number of women participants dominated men.

Upon their returns, they can either run a small shop by themselves or run a community cafe which is very encouraged to do for the benefits of members of those sites as well as to serve visitors more professionally.
