Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh is one of the major attractions of Chandigarh, nicknamed The City Beautiful.
Although located in the middle of a capital city this place is calm and away from the hustle and bustle of the city One can indulge in this beautiful vibe by accessing the lake from one of the several entry points that typically have about 30-40 steps to climb that could be tiring but the view was worth it. I visited the lake at the time of sunrise and found it to be a soothing and relaxing place and one of the best tracks for a peaceful morning walk, with family and children with a nicely tarred road along the periphery of the lake.
There are various activities at the place though I just enjoyed the breeze blowing giving me immense freshness. Those who are artistically inclined can join many of the other random artists who sit along the neatly constructed banks to sketch or paint a landscape of the lake and its adjoining beauty. More importantly, there was no trace of pollution in the lake, and people are seen fishing with their fishing reels.
Besides walking or jogging the place is a hub of activities like workouts, photography, gazing, bird-watching, or simply hang out with near and dear ones. Ample Parking space that is systematic and well-maintained is available at the access points outside the lake and boating can be enjoyed inside. Overall the place is nice and clean with a very soothing natural environment to spend time with family and friends.
Have you been to a lakeside recently or in the past? I’d be interested in knowing your experiences.
Until then… Happy Guiding
