Sukayu Onsen – A Famous Hot Spring in Aomori, Japan

At first glance, the name"Sukayu Onsen Facility" might make you imagine a vast hot spring area, but in reality, there is only one onsen. However, it offers both day-use bathing and accommodation, making it a great spot to check out. It is also famous as a hot spring therapy destination for those seeking onsen healing.

The “Senjin-buro” (Thousand-Person Bath) is especially well-known. While it’s unclear if it can actually fit a thousand people (lol), its massive, impressive bath is definitely worth experiencing. It was my first time in a mixed-gender bath**, and although I felt a bit nervous and couldn’t fully relax, after getting out, my whole body felt warm and refreshed**, leaving me very satisfied.

After bathing, I planned to relax at the café, but unfortunately, it was closed that day. As for food options, there was a soba restaurantand a small selection of snacks at the shop. Next time, I’ll bring some onigiri or other food with me.

Personally, the best part was the relaxation area after the bath. Just sitting there and doing nothing was truly the ultimate moment of peace.
Also, this area is famous for its heavy snowfall, and when I visited, there was an incredible amount of snow accumulated.
