Suggest an edit to close a location, reason moved. Insert new address. Old place was automatically suggest to close no longer exists. However the store moved to and merged with the other store. There was no visible way to tell maps to NOT jump to conclusions or unrecommend the change.
Hi @CuteKitsune
Welcome to Connect.
I don’t quite understand what your problem is. Could you maybe explain a little more what the problem is and what help you need. All the best.
Morten
Business A relocated and moved in with business B.
So I recommended and edit at the location of business B and then drove to the old location of business A. I know that they were leaving that location to move to the location I had already recommended the edit before.
The maps program decided that, arbitrarily, business B no longer exists and is closed. when in fact the truth is the two businesses had merged into a single location with shared space.
Ultimately Google maps has decided that there is a completely new business that is no longer associated with either of the old two businesses. and so now both businesses must get their reviews started over from scratch as well as any pictures for them.
Google maps was harmfully too helpful.
Thanks for explaining in more detail. We will need the expert moderators to help, but I’m not very optimistic. I once had a slightly similar case and a moderator at that time made clear there is no backup of pics and reviews once they are gone.
I guess it would have been better to just move business A rather than merge them. There can easily exist two pins in one building.
But let’s wait for moderators help.
If you’re 100% sure they are the same business you can just say that the places are duplicate @CuteKitsune then both will be merged with all reviews and photos intact.
If you’re not sure then leave the entries alone.
If the combined business has changed its name then both should be closed and a new entry for the new business added.

They’re both separate legal entities sharing a location. I’m at this point hopeful a human on Google’s end looks it over because I’m not trusting I won’t make it worse. Should I post the relevant addresses and businesses here?
This seems to be a non standard situation.
