Suggest an Edit option

When we close or remove any place in the suggest an edit option under duplicate of some place it shows only the suggestions by google

There should be a tab where we can select the place which is actually the duplicate of not the suggestions

My point is once you select the option duplicate of another place the list is shown by google

And options are limited we cannot select on our own which option is the orginal one as the list is limited as per Google knowledge

I see. But if you follow my merging tips the relevant place will show up after you have fixed the naming, address, category etc to be exactly the same.

So if the right pin is not on the list you have not yet made the nessesary preparation.

Keep in mind you are dealing with an automated system. And merge is probably the hardest and most time consuming contribution you can make.
