Stunning Photos And Relevance To Local Guide's Rules

Hello, I am always trilled when I see some’s photo being high quality, stunning and still maintain relevance to the program, this is tricky as we might end up taking photos and uploading irrelevant photos to Google Maps or Google Street View for that matter.

You can start analyzing from the bellow photos numbered 1. up to 3. questions are found bellow each photo.

Here are few photos I captured I think are outstanding from what I used to do before, and also I feel they maintain relevance based on what they convey to us.

See photos:

1.

I would like to know how others think about the relevance of showing the roof if it got some kind of art and beautiful lighting just like this photo, for example, I would say this shows that the venue is of upscale. What will be your comment on this?

2.

This photo does not show any product or services provided here, and if you look carefully, the roof shown on the photo labelled(1.) is visible also at the top. Does this serve as duplicate photos or it does not serve as duplicates and does it still maintain relevance or not?

3.

This last photo belongs to Durban Fun World, amusement park which I contributed. I wanted to know if it still maintain relevance since it now shows at least 50% of outside the amusement park, what is your point of view about this photo?

You can pick any photo and comment on, you do not have to comment to all of them, but if you have energy I would like to hear your feedback and point of view from this post. I hope we will be learning here.

Thank you.

I’m no expert on this subject @Raphael-Mahumane so I hope that the Google Moderators here reply. However, photo 2 does show the lighting but photo 1 zooms in on this feature to show it in more detail so as you are highlighting different relevant aspects of the premises, they all appear relevant to me.

Hello @Raphael-Mahumane ,

Thank you for adding your photos. I would like to suggest you to read this post on Connect for more information on the matter What photos should I share on Google Maps? It gives you the basic guidelines on what should be added on Google Maps.

My personal tip for you is not to add selfies or photos that do not exactly represent the location itself.

In addition, sharing too many photos that look almost the same could be considered as spam. You can read more here Maps User Contributed Content Policy.

Hi @MoniDi thank you for pointing out the selfies point, I am aware of that and I do not do it, the photo included here is just used as the main cover of the post and mentioned bellow it that it is not on the list of photos I am asking about.

The links you shared are really helpful, the reason for this post is to know how ambiguous it is to choose which photo is good or not which may results to penalty or removal from the program, especial what @AdamGT has mentioned, it may be seen as something violating the rules by someone, but actually the photo is conveying a certain message which is upscale since it shows details of the lighting. What is your point of view on that?

Hey @Raphael-Mahumane ,

I don’t think the first photo is irrelevant to the place. It shows in detail what one can expect to see in it. The decor of a venue is important as it may complement or contrast with a certain event.

@MoniDi thank you for your input, most of the time I thought it was not good thing to do including those shorts, I am happy if they make sense.

Hi @Raphael-Mahumane

My opinion is except for Photo number 1 rest is OK for posting.

2 shows peculiar lighting & that sets the place in a class apart.

3 is OK, so long as the faces of visitors are not clearly identifiable. The popularity of the house is visible here.

4 Gives a birds-eye view of the spot. However, the cables are depreciating the appeal.

Thank you @C_T this shows that it is important to use all the angles, as each and every person is different and they might be looking for that special feature which a business can offer that set it apart from others.

@Raphael-Mahumane thank you for sharing on this topic. I think all those 3 photos are relevant. The first two show the ambience of the place and give me a better idea of the place and whether it is suitable for me or not. The third is an outside view and shows me the context of the location and helps me identify landmarks of getting to the place.

Thank you @MariaNgo for your input, I needed to hear from people like you, to be sure that what ever I am thinking is not just what I want but what is up to standard.

@Raphael-Mahumane It is good when we can connect with others who share our interest and learn from one another.
