In this summer, I visited Akita Prefecture“秋田県” and took some photographs of cascade and waterfall around Mt. Choka“鳥海山”.
Mt. Chokai“鳥海山” is an active volcano with an altitude of 2,236m that spans Yamagata”山形県” and Akita“秋田県” Prefectures. Since Mt. Chokai“鳥海山” is an active volcano, columnar joints ”柱状節理” can be seen in many places around it.
In the morning of September 19, I visited Kameda Fudou waterfall “亀田不動滝” which is located in the upper stream of Koromo river“衣川”, Yurihonjou city”由利本荘市”.
There is a small free parking area beside the Akita prefectural road No.341, and I walked 5 minutes to the waterfall. When I arrived to the basin of the waterfall, there was a magnificent view of the majestic waterfall flowing down the 25m high columnar joint cliff like a white cloth.
When I was taking the photos of the waterfall, rays of the sun came into the waterfall from the forest and the view became more fantastic.
If you have a interest in cascade and waterfall of Japan, I recommend you to visit this waterfall.
The fastest route to Kameda Fudou waterfall “亀田不動滝” is to rent a car from Akita airport“秋田空港”and it takes 30 minutes.
