Stunning Cascade and Waterfall around Mt. Adatara, Fukushima, Japan

Today, I would like to introduce some cascade and waterfalls around the foot of Mt. Adatara “安達太良山” in Fukushima Prefecture“福島県”.

Bouzugataki “坊主ヶ滝” is a cascade which is located near the entrance of Nakanosawa Gymnasium“中ノ沢体育館” in Inawashiro Town,“猪苗代町”. To go to the waterfall, you can park your car in an open space near the Nakanosawa Gymnasium“中ノ沢体育館” and then walk to the waterfall for 2 minutes. The waterfall consisted of two steps and the water volume was plentiful.

Tassawafudoutaki “達沢不動滝” is a cascade which is located on the western part of Mt. Adatara “安達太良山”. It takes 12 minutes by car to this waterfall from Bouzugataki “坊主ヶ滝”.

There is a parking lot in front of the waterfall and you can reach the waterfall in 10 minutes on foot.

Tassawafudoutaki “達沢不動滝” is known to be very beautiful because the abundant water that springs from Mt. Adatara “安達太良山”flows down a large rock. I visited during the season of fresh green, but I think that it will show a more beautiful appearance during the season of autumn leaves.

Choushigataki “銚子ヶ滝” is a waterfall which is located on the southern part of Mt. Adatara “安達太良山”. It takes 10 minutes by car to the nearest parking lot from Bouzugataki “坊主ヶ滝”. The waterfall is about 1km away from the parking lot and you have to walk in the woods for 30 minutes. You can enjoy bathing in the forest, but there are some signs that warns about bears, so you should avoid visiting alone. After arriving near the waterfall, take the 300m staircase leading to the waterhole. When you get down to the waterhole, you will be surprised at the height of the waterfall. The appearance of water flowing down from a height of 48 m was very magnificent.

Oominefudoutaki “大峯不動滝” is a cascade which is located 850m far from Bandai Atami Station“磐梯熱海駅” in Koriyama city “郡山市”. There is a parking space near to this cascade and you can park your car. This is a small cascade with a head of less than 2m, but when you visit the day after the rain, the water volume is abundant and it shows a very beautiful appearance. I recommend visiting during the rainy season, early summer, and early autumn.

At shooting these four cascade and waterfalls, I attached the ND filter to the camera lens. With the effect of the ND filter, the shutter speed of the camera could be slowed down, allowing the flow of water to be expressed like a white cloth or thread.

Dear, ( @fasi6083

Thank you very much for your comments.

When shooting a waterfall with a large amount of water at the height, it is better to express the momentum of the water by increasing the shutter speed, but in the case of waterfalls like these, I think it is more effective to attach an ND filter.
