Street View App gone

The street view app can no longer be used. But I used it as normal. I went on photo paths to see if it wasn’t going to work any more. But I managed to somehow still create a photo path and get it published even though it said photo paths and street view app can no longer be used. I have not seen my photo path on Google maps, but it still says published. Is it a bug that I can still use it??

Hello @LocalStar

Yes !!! The street view app is finally gone for good. Nevertheless you can still add your 360° through Google maps itself to a pin rather than just anywhere around.Mind you I haven’t tried it myself.

We were given some time notice before it actually closed up. I have the app myself and was a SVTP badge holder. Nevertheless the app will not work anymore.

Hope that answers your question.

Now as street view app is gone, we can publish 360º content via Google maps, yes we can, but there are a lot of disadvantages: All my 360º content is geolocated which was respected by the street view app. Now in Google maps you can only publish to an existing location/ business/monument/etc on Google maps . Geolocation is not considered and in most cases the location is simply wrong. My happiness is quite low…

Hey, @SholaIB I’m a Street View Photographer here in Arizona. The Third-party I used to use to publish my 360 photos is saying that Google Changed something, so it’s not approving any new 360 photos. I use to use the app as well, but as you know, that no longer works.

When I tried to go to the link you mentioned, It said I don’t have permission to see the content. Is there somewhere I can go to see the content or another place other than Local Guides Connect that will have the latest info on Google Street View images???

How are we supposed to upload new 360 photos for Businesses and local places now?

Hello @Klfrost7

Sorry it’s my fault that link isn’t what I should recommended for you. Try This link here instead

Please let me know if you find the solution to your problem there. Thanks

Hallo, @Klfrost7

The first link shared by @SholaIB is the correct one, and as you are a street view trusted you should be able to get in.

Please try to open the link in incognito mode then login with your Trusted Photographers account.

If it doesn’t work please let us know.

In any case in there you may not be able to find a solution, because with the new changes street view is back to the origin (street level). They give the possibility of adding 360 tours with connected photos only through Third parties applications, as this is mostly related to business activities, and we should not use our Local Guides account for business.

Google provide the API to the third parties for them to upgrade the interface with Maps, so the issue should be fixed by the Third party itself.

Hope this may help you to clarify your doubts.

Hello @ErmesT

“In any case in there you may not be able to find a solution, because with the new changes street view is back to the origin (street level). They give the possibility of adding 360 tours with connected photos only through Third parties applications”

I think you are referring to this “To capture and publish street-level collections, use a compatible 360 camera and import the resulting files into our new Street View Studio platform, available on both desktop and mobile.” Text from Use Street View in Google Maps. Please correct me if I got it wrongly.

Additionally does this mean user now can add Photo Sphere to any point on the map, after capturing the Photo Spheres? if yes how? Or the Photo Sphere can only be added to a business?

Like this image below the Photo Spheres are randomly located based on users geolocations. Is it possible to do this now?

Thank you for your time, and I appreciate any help you can provide. I hope to hear back from you.
