So I’m using the street view app on ios.
Wonderful app. Stitches perfectly. Blew all competition right out of the water and the closest competitor has a 9 months ago update on his app, the biggest competitor is 2 years ago. So we can consider them dead.
Apart from the Street View resetting your position when someone calls you, I don’t have too many gripes with it except the one and only.
The app seems to dislike me having control over the material that I take photos of.
At first if you remember it saved a copy of your 360’s on your device, full resolution, everyones happy, I can post-process that, reupload, it’s mine, while I also leave the original for Google Maps views.
Then that option was disabled and we got a dumbed down low-res , frankly unusable save to camera roll option. So ok, alternatives. I dug in deep and I found that you could download the 360’s from the kinda hidden photo archive, where it archives all your photos from all G apps. Fine, a hassle, I can’t edit postprocess on the device, but fine, if you really want me to hurt, I’ll tolerate the pain somehow.
NOW, we can’t even download these. So essentially we have no control over our content. The content we made with the help of Google software. Does this make sense? Doesn’t sound like good old Google to me.
