Street Food Advice : "Kilisli Fiko" in istanbul

When you miss traditional food in İstanbul you have a lot of option. Today I’ll advce " Kilisli Fiko " in İstanbul ( Kadıköy )

First photo is " Kilis Yuvarlama Çorbası ". İt very populer soup in Kilis. ( with meat ball )

Second photo is " Adana Kebap, salata ve Şalgam " . Adana Kebap very delicious and popular kebap in Adana and Turkey. ( generally spicy and hot ), salad is free and Şalgam traditional beverage in Adana ( made from black carrots and wheat )

Both dishes looks very appetizing. I’ve eaten Adana Kebap a few times now and it’s definitely a real treat, but I have to admit that today was the first time that I hear about this Kilis soup. You said that it is made of meat balls right. Can you tell us a little bit of the white sauce that they are dipped in?

Both dishes really were delicious. Also I’m from Adana and I like much Adana Kebap :slight_smile:

Kilis Yuvarlama Çorbası or Yuvalama Çorbası ( Kilis Yuvarlama Soup ) This soup is difficult to prepare. I will talk about ingredient.

For soup;

  • 500 grams of lamb shank or lamb meat

  • 1 cup chickpeas soaked in the night

  • 1 finely chopped onion

  • 1.5 liters of water

  • Salt, Black peppercorns
    for meat balls;

  • 100 grams ground beef

  • 1/2 cup cracked rice soaked in the night

  • 1/4 cup flour

  • 1 tablespoon soaked fine semolina

  • Salt, black pepper
    for yogurt sauce;

  • 300-350 grams of yogurt

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tablespoon flour

  • 4 cups water
    ** dried mint and butter

I’ve never had eitherAdana Kebap or Kilis soup but after spending a month in Cappadocia I went to beautiful Adana @DuyguOzcan
