Street art you must see in my town (Toretsk, Ukraine)

I live in a small town in the east of Ukraine. It’s an industrial town and not a touristic spot, but yet there are places worth seeing. I always try to add interesting places to Google Maps but the problem is that a part of them is not applied.

For instance, there is a number of really nice street art but most of them are unmarked. Like this one on the side of an old cinema building that haі been closed for a long time.

As a solution I decided to make a list with markers that have desсriptions and short URLs to photos of the objects. It’s not ideal, as you can’t see photos right in the list but at least one can get to know about interesting places to see.

This cute bus stop reminding us of Easter was created on a bus stop by local children with their teacher.

An this one was painted by an internally displaced man on a wall of a local kindergarten.

A new street art was created later in 2019. It incorporate the miner’s town realities and dreams of further development.

You can see a few more places in the list, while I also want to share a picture of a Hollywood-like sign with the name of my town. People like taking pistures with it on the background. Unfortunately, it’s unmarked on Maps ( I tried to add it but it wasn’t applied)

I hope the list will be helpful both for locals and visitors of my town. And my further hope is that all interesting places in my town are marked on Google Maps.

@OlgaKlimchik , четвертая моя любимая. У нее кроме собственной красоты и смысла еще и хорошее расположение. Она на одной из центральных улиц, и ее видят большинство приезжих в город.

I have a fascination with street art especially because it is a big form of art and invokes the kid inside me who always dreamt of drawing and painting on a large canvas which are the walls of the drawing-room as a kid and obviously was not allowed by my parents.

Thanks for sharing the lovely street murals from Toretsk @YuliiaZa

Here’s an article about street art in New Delhi where I live currently.

Yeah, street art is about freedom and scale, @TusharSuradkar .

It’ll be interesting to see murals in your city, thanks for the link.

Glad you enjoyed it, @AniaKiser . It would be interesting to know why you like the mural on the block of flats the most. And what is your feeling/impression of its message?

@YuliiaZa I prefer colorful murals (You can check these artists Kobra and Okudart ). I’m in love with surrealism and steam punk style. This mural in your post is a fairy-tale like, about dreaming and showing that children’s imagination is limitless. I truly love it about kids-they have no idea something is “impossible”-that’s why they are great future-creators, inventors. Adults are often ‘caught in a trap’, as they believe in other people’s words “that’s impossible”. It’s more difficult to think “out of the box” at my age

It seems I can see why your username is @AniaKiser ))

Your description is quite close to what I feel about that mural. Thanks for the recommendations. I will check them. Surrealism gives endless opportunities for interpretations and reflection, that’s what’s so appealing about it.
