Do you have an upcoming gathering that you need to bring a dish for?? Well, you’re in the right place!
A few weeks ago, I was meeting with my former supervisor for a later lunch and volunteered to bring a dessert. Many times, I agree to do something and completely forget about it the minute I hang up or stop texting. We planned on meeting Saturday at 12:15 P.M. The week went by, and it wasn’t until the night before that I realized I had nothing to prepare my dessert. Poor planning! My destination was an hour from where I live, so I needed to have something ready by 11 A.M., the latest. I started thinking of many desserts that I’ve made in the past but they were all time consuming; so I decided to search something quick on Pinterest. I found a pies, cookies, fruits dipped in chocolate etc. Nothing was grabbing my attention until I stumbled up the “strawberry fluff.”
Strawberry fluff is a light and creamy dessert made with strawberries. There’s no “right way” to make this dessert, since there is a plethora of recipes. Some eat it out of a blow or use it as a topping. I’ll show you the pie way of making it!
Here is a list of the ingredients you will need:
-
Fresh strawberries
-
8 Ounces of Cool whip
-
16 Ounces of cream cheese
-
Vanilla extract
-
Honey, agave or sugar. (3/4 cup of cane sugar if that’s what you choose)
-
Pie crust (I bought a premade one)
-
Strawberry puree
List of utensils and tools:
-
Large bowl
-
Mixer
-
Big spoon
-
Knife (if you wish to decorate)
-Tablespoon
-Teaspoon
Step one: Making the “fluff”
Grab your cream cheese and Cool Whip, pour into large bowl and mix until you get a soft and creamy texture. Add 3-4 tablespoons of strawberry puree to your cream cheese and Cool Whip mix.Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well. Sit in fridge.
Step two: Flavoring your puree
Now, if you have the store bought strawberry puree this step isn’t necessary; however, I found it a bit bland so I added my own touch. Empty your can of puree in a pot, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, add your sugar or honey (I eyeballed but I would estimate 3 tablespoons.) Turn on medium heat to melt the sugar or honey. Once melted, pour into a bowl and put in freezer for about 10 minutes so it can cool down faster.
For those who like crunchy crusts: Turn your oven on 350 degrees, leave your crust in for 5-10 minutes
Step 3: Layering your pie
Now, this is your final and easiest step! Grab your crust, fluff mix and strawberry puree. First, fill your crust with the fluff mix but also keep in mind that you will need some space to add your puree on top. After nicely spreading it, add your puree on top and cover the fluff. Tadaaaa!!
For aesthetic purposes: Slice your strawberries, if they’re even you’ll have heart shapes; if not that’s also fine! If they’re funny looking, cut them in half. Put your strawberry pieces on the pie, following the perimeter of your crust. Once, you’re add four pieces in the middle to get a flower shape. Use a bit of whip cream in the middle and there you go!
