Strawberries in Berlin

Hello Strawberry-Aficionados!

Most Berliners know the red strawberry-styled stalls that sell Karls Erdbeeren. I have found it difficult to locate them across Berlin. They have an own (Google based) map on their homepage, but it doesn’t really work that well.

Therefore I have started to add the ones I know to Google Maps and to a list, you can see them here: Berlin Strawberries.

I encourage you to add the missing stalls from your neighbourhood to Google Maps and post a link here, then I’d add them to the list.

Please note that the locations are only open during strawberry season, roughly from May to August.

It may seem this way, but I am in no way connected to the company, nor do I profit in any way from this.

@RohitGahlot Thanks for replying, but sorry, I don’t quite follow. What do you mean by that?

Great job and idea @patdj182

I just wonder if those stands are seasonal for strawberry or maybe they will be used for other crops/ berries?

Thanks, @CaterinaOS .

I’m pretty sure they disappear entirely. But let’s keep an eye on it.

Excuse me. What is so special about Berlin Strawberry ? I will be there in August, would like to know the reason. Thanks

Hi @KennyWong . The ones they sell at these food stalls, especially in July and August, are just very tasty compared to what you get (here) the rest of the year, since they are picked only when they are ripe and brought directly to the end consumer. There may be companies or sources like that in other cities, and strawberries may generally be tastier in other countries, but for what we, or at least me personally, are used to, they are a delight in taste. Do try them out if you get the chance and let me know if you agree.

Thanks for the explanation. I definitely will try that when I am in Berlin next month. Of course I have followed you. I just noticed that in your list there is a store just 8 minutes walking distance from Central Station :+1:

Hello @patdj182 ,

Usually the best way to add a business listing is by the business owner them self and through Google My business and following the steps provided in this article.

But if the business is in a form of food stalls, it’s not possible because most of the food stalls are either mobile or temporary. In order for a business to be listed on Google Maps, it would need a clear and detail location.

Thank you @AngieYC . I’m fully aware of that, since I have my business signed up in GMaps. The problem with these stalls is that they are not only temporal but to my knowledge also franchised. So I’m not sure whether the brand itself is in the position to list all their locations. THey have, as I mentioned, a GMaps-based module on the website, bit it is not really that user friendly. A user-compiled list would be the fastest way, I guess…

Hi friend @JustineE !!

When I saw the picture of the strawberry made me remember while we went with my family to collect wild berries and then we made a delicious strawberry cake hehe I leave the publication in case you are interested in reading it: Harvesting wild strawberries in Tierra del Fuego
