Growing up you are always told do not trust strangers, it could mean putting yourself in harms way. However with the Local Guides program we do exactly that, put our absolute trust in strangers. We trust their reviews of places when making decisions and their listings when looking for direction.
I have only traveled domestically so all my places and listings are from Kenya, being a relatively small country (compared to USA) I have a rough idea of the culture and norms of everywhere here. When I do travel abroad I will have to completely rely on google maps and put my absolute trust in the local guides when moving around and making decisions.
I am always looking for a good deal and I am able to help other people like me find places with their preferred price point.
I randomly stumbled into this restaurant in Nairobi city called Country Cooking

I listed it the following day along with a photo of the menu and I hope the listing is helping other people eat healthy on a budget
I like listing places in rural areas. In the rural area everyone know everywhere and they use the local language to name the places, as an outsider you may find it difficult to move around because the land marks are not listed on google maps. This is why I listed Kwa Ngeta Stage https://goo.gl/maps/apfmENWnHdo6dWY96 in Mikumbune and intend to list all the bus stops along the Nkubu-Mikumbune road.I always had a challenge informing the matatu (public transport) driver where I intend to alight and how close I am to my bus stop because people rarely list landmarks and bus stops in our rural areas.
I also love getting new badges. Every time I get an email notification of how many views my photos have gotten or my review has been liked, I get excited knowing I am inching closer to my next level in the Local Guide program
