Hello everyone,
I’m Somya Mahalik (srmahalik) basically from a small town Sonepur in the state of Odisha, India. Which is almost unknown to many people, even some people who are from Odisha as well yet, very popular for it’s influentially rich art, culture and craft. It is also known as Second Prayagraj of India for the meeting point of three rivers Mahanadi, Tel and Karpura. Sonepur also famous for its Textiles, Terracotta, Paddy crafts.
As a native who spend almost 15 years, know many things related to that place. So same thing happened with me, when I checked google maps I saw only few places were there on map. So I decided to add all the places which were not part of google maps previously. After my graduation I came to my native place Sonepur, and started roaming here and there in Sonepur town just to collect different data that I can update on map. In this way I had collected different data like New places, working hours, phone numbers, address etc. During that time my primary focus was to update the maps as much as possible, and I did that.
I had added more than 100 places includes small shops, restaurants, schools, temples, tourist places in my home town and nearby area, updated data about different places and gave review to them so that it will be helpful or will make their journey easier for someone in the future.
The most important thing that I like to share is Photographs of that place. Because personally I believe in Photos or Videos. From a Picture or a Video, one can get some clear information about that place. I love to take photos and upload that on Google maps. Since I started sharing photos on Google Maps It has become my hobby. Nowadays I’m more concentrating about videos and 360 Photos. Also, I like to response question which are asked by people related to different places on the map.
