Stockholm

Hi All!

I moved to Stockholm for work from London about a year ago and slowly but surely, I’ve been investigating the city, looking for great places to eat and document my time here. Stockholm is a truly photogenic city, situated on a series of Islands in the Sout East of Sweden, it seems to be clear and bright most of the time. Kungsholmen is the Island I live on and I try to get out and run at least once a week and take some pictures. Here are a few of the photos I have taken on my runs;

What I really like about google maps is that it helps me to champion independent restaurants and bars. This I hope will change the landscape of retail enterprise for the better. In most cases I find there is more value, range, quality and sense of community in these independent retailers. Independent venues that I have reviewed are responsive to reviews and a positive review from a local guide is worth far more than a big budget marketing campaign.

Stockholm has some fantastic restaurants and the quality of the produce an execution is often exceptional. However, it can be quite challenging to find reasonably priced places to eat. The Indian street food & co in Norrmalm is a great example of a venue that balances tasty, fresh food and budget friendly prices.

Sushi is everywhere in Stockholm it seems every retail street has a sushi bar. Red Ninja sushi is a cut above the rest, nicely prepared and not overpriced friendly and attentive waiting staff in a small but perfectly formed restaurant.

Cavabaren is a lively treat of a barnear Hötorget subway station, by no means cheap its a popular place with the after-work crowd from the central business district. They serve Ice cold cava in Champagne saucers with some tasty, fresh bar snacks.

No review of Stockholm could be complete without some meatballs. The best I have found so far are at Meatballs for the people on Sodermalm. You get a choice of meat, including wild boar and venison among others, the accompanying lingonberries and mashed potato are delicious.

Stockholm has been a real delight to live an work in so far and I am enjoying exploring and finding all its hidden gems and experiences.

With honest, crowd sourced reviews of hotels, restaurants, bars and more we can really change the face of the high street, helping retailers with quality produce and consumer interest at heart succeed. Let me know if there are any places you know of that I should visit or you have any questions.

Patrick.
