Still Can’t Add Trails

I still can’t add trails! Under “feedback”, there is no such option to “add road or trail”. I’ve tried the app, google maps in Safari, google maps in a third party browser, they are all the same. I’ll attach a screenshot.

By the way, I’ve already tried “add a missing place” several times. My trail is published, but then within 24 hours, it is deleted. I guess because it’s not a “place” but a kind of “road”.

Please help! I really want to add these trails that are missing from our maps.

I guess you are using a un-updated version of Maps.

Here a screenshot that clearly lists add missing road as an option.

I suggest the following actions on the phone or on a desktop.

  1. Check for an update for the OS as well as Maps.

  2. Clear the cached data and storage.

  3. Clear the cookies and browsing history.

  4. Try in some other browser.

  5. Disable any browser add-ons or plugins temporarily and then attempt that.

PS. If you are using an iPhone, please access the web version of Maps through chrome browser and request a desktop site. You should get the option to add a missing road through that.

I do not use the iPhone.

However, I can see that option in chrome browser on an iPad, when I access maps.google.com and request a desktop site.

I am sure the iPhone wouldn’t be different. Also using a chrome browser will eliminate any compatibility issues.

I just cleared out everything I know how, I also selected to request full website rather than mobile site for Safari. I’ll try getting chrome

@C_T Okay I downloaded chrome and found it. I also found some other “missing” places I had previously added. I had a problem adding another, when the “add a missing place” option literally disappeared off of my screen! I don’t know what’s going on. But I cleared all the cache & data from chrome, and it’s still gone. See my screenshot.

Now I accessed an iPhone. Opened the browser version of maps in chrome and requested desktop site. I could see the option to add road through the send feedback menu.

In short, one can suggest road addition on an iPhone also.

Regarding your inquiry, what @C_T kindly shared would perhaps be a temporary fix (as it may not always guarantee result as I have also checked on my personal iOS device), should the option to directly add a missing road is currently available only on Android mobile devices and Desktop version of Google Maps. (further details to be checked in the post Add a missing road to the map)

I would suggest you to try on a Desktop, should the addition of the trail be essentially added to Google Maps.

Should there be any further suggestion on that end, feel free to elaborate it in the Idea Exchange board, or directly sending feedback about the feature to Google Maps.
