Step back in time and explore the home of the Count and Countess Natale Labia - Cape Town

In 1877 Count Natale Labia is born in a small town, Cerignola which is part of Foggia in Italy. He becomes the Italian Consul in South Africa where he meets his future wife, Ida, the daughter of a mining pioneer, Sir Robinson. The house was built with the idea that in the future it will become the residence of the diplomatic representatives of the country of Italy and therefore a decision was made to base the design on that of Palazzo Labia in Venice, Italy.

From the beginning, the house hosted kings and diplomats and became the meeting place of several influential businessmen as they devised their plans for the development of South Africa and beyond.

Throughout the years it has been an embassy, corporate offices and also a museum until the family through Count Luccio Labia restored the house in 2010 with assistance from his daughter, Antonia. History Casa Labia

Subsequently, during the period of the lockdown the company, Ideas Cartel decided to take over the management of this great building and transformed it into a multiple-use facility. It now serves as a meeting place with friends, restaurant, function venue to include co-working spaces and conference facilities. Most recently it also added accommodation to the portfolio of services on offer Accommodation Casa Labia

When inside ask for tea to be served in the lounge and enjoy a moment in history

And sometimes one needs to just sit outside and look at the view, or step back inside and listen to a piano recital in the grand hall
