SteffyS's application post for Connect Live 2019

Hi to you reading this :slightly_smiling_face:

I am Steffy, from New-Caledonia (French), and I have been living in Australia for about 4 years now for my studies. As a solo traveler and explorer, I LOVE looking at reviews before I go ANYWHERE, whether that be to a new grocery shop, a shopping centre, a restaurant, a hotel or a spa. Reviews are so important to me. It doesn’t mean that I am deciding straight away if I am going to that shop or not, it means that I am aware of what people have experienced there and that I may come across the same problem or the same positive experience. I like to create my own opinions and it happened more than once, the fact that a place had half or mostly negative reviews and when I get there, it all goes fine for me. And vice versa, top-rated places can be disappointing from my experience. Then I make sure I write it all in my reviews, aiming to inform the next person. It honestly all comes to preferences and to communication.

Now what I love sharing most on Google Maps are not only my reviews, to help other solo travelers, but also photos. I am an amateur photographer and I am passionate about editing, although I am an amateur at this as well. I share my stuff on Instagram when I can but I love to add those photos to Google Maps too, to create good content that pleases the eyes. I like to think that sometimes MY photos are the ones that made someone want to go somewhere. And it’s crazy how the views go up fast as well, it just makes you want to do more, to visit more places, to take more pictures and to post more.

I get excited just talking about this, so I might stop here.

To recap, what I love sharing most on Google Maps: my unique shots and informative reviews for people travelling or exploring alone.

Hi @SteffyS ,

Was this your application post for Connect Live 2019? If so, please note that I relabeled it and it now appears in the Local Stories board where it should be. I’ve also adjusted the title of your post. A clear title will attract more views to your thread, as it gives a clear indication of the content of the post to the people that are willing to help you. And last but not least, since your post isn’t written in French, I decided to remove the language label from it. This action will help avoid confusion among other Local Guides who are looking for publications in French via Connect.

Hi KlaudiyaG,

Thank you for your help. It was my first post ever on there to apply to Connect Live so not a pro just yet… thanks again. :slightly_smiling_face:
