The locals adhore their homegrown white
as do I. It’s absolutely the single most important food item on the menu item in restaurants and at home.Sure. The locals like white bread, too., but white rice
is definitely a must in most local cuisines here.
Brown rice is nice, too, but nothing can replace steamy hot white rice. Blended rice is healthier for you, and, that’s always nice, too… White rice is always the best choice for all Japanese food, though! No matter what the critics say about it.
Take a
bow!
**** message to the Western world ****
Stop with the fascination of overpriced Kobe
Beef. It is not the only premium brand in Japan. It’s among many premium brands like Yonezawa Beef, Owari Beef, and a few others.
Back on point:
- In my opinion, the single most delicious combination in ALL of Japanese cuisine is the Gyuniku Shigure-ni (beef “shigure”) Simmered Beef with Ginger. You take that premium domestic black cow beef and cook it up perfectly and add it to a large bowl of hot premium sticky Japanese white rice. The heat from the rice will melt the fat and ginger from the beef mixture and bam You can hear the angels singing.
Here is a link to the recipe:
What else goes perfect with rice?

Spicy Korean fried chicken goes VERY WELL with white rice.
Spicy mustard fried chicken is a beautiful match with white rice.
Fat back slow simmered beef with a spoon shaped in the form of the shovel is a dream come true. What an amazing treat!
