Hello, This is Seckin Okur from Ankara, Turkey. I was not a very social sharing guy because I was thinking that sharing some pictures of what I eat or where I visited to a limited followers is not worthy.
But in June 2016, when we were on a trip to Chicago, USA, we went to a local place and after I took a picture Google Maps asked me if I’d like to share it. That’s my story began. My very first picture has over 10K views and I found it that sharing pictures, giving information through Google Maps is sharing the knowledge to the world. This time it was totally different. The contributions I made are become available to anyone all around the world with a meaning.
This is when I decide to take the offer to be a local guide. I started to share the food from my road trips or local good places. The unique places which offer a nice swimming area or a great view or even a historical place become points that I can share my experiences, or my sight to the people all over the world.
Like the Tulip Festival in Emirgan Park in Istanbul
A camping place where there’s even no facility at all but amazing point to swim
A great restaurant on a road to stop buy and enjoy delicious food
So being a local guide and share all these are becoming a habit and also it feels so good to be able to share this much knowledge to people that I don’t know. This is so much power, this feels really good.
This is why I love being a local guide
