14th stage of our tour. We started from Roca Vecchia, a fantastic place with vestiges of the fifteenth century BC. and from other eras, on a promontory overlooking the sea where there is also the Grotta della Poesia. We begin our journey with a really beautiful road that takes us to Otranto, after passing through Torre dell’Orso and the Alimini lakes, coastal lakes. We take some pictures, and then back on the saddle, the road today is long. We then take the road that leads to Santa Maria di Leuca along the coast. Today, May 1st, the traffic is really strong, the motorbikes run like cannonballs and, the busiest places, full of people. Enchanting sea everywhere and wonderful views over various places such as Porto Badisco, Castro, and above all, impressive for both the people and the place, the bridge over the Ciolo cave. You pass over the bridge and to the left the deep blue sea, while to the right the end of a canyon, which also emerges on the sea and under the swimming boys. In this canyon there are also international mountain running competitions, we are strange at the sea! Along the way we found remarkable fields of orchids of various qualities and many, many climbs. In total we did about 850 meters in altitude and 72 km. Maybe a little too much after 14 days of travel. We stayed at the Montirò hotel, a series of villas on the hill of Leuca. Nice and cozy rooms. Too bad there is no restaurant, as reported on the website, as this evening we did not want to move. Instead we will have to take a taxi to go to the restaurant, we do not want to touch the bicycle …
