The journey to Warangal proved to be a memorable journey. And each moment of this journey was full of adventure. The Warangal Fort offers a golden opportunity to be oriented with many world-class protected monuments. At the same time, Kakatiya Rulers patronage towards the literature art music dance sculptures and architecture is significant in all these monuments. Temples and lakes including the tremendous growth in trade and commerce through the Sea route reflects the Kakatiya’s success and their boundless faith in God and humanity.

Parol II was the first independent Kakatiya ruler and Rudradeva was a great king who wrote the Nitisara Granth in Sanskrit. Rudreswara, also called the Thousand Pillared Temple, was built by Rudradeva, whose description and mention are found in the inscription.
Rudra Deva’s reign lasted from 1158 AD to 1195 AD. The Warangal Fort was established. And the construction of the Siri Shambhu Lingeshwara Temple in this fort was an important place of worship of the Kakatiya dynasty during the reign of Rudradeva in 1162 AD and the worship including the religious rituals in this temple remains intact even today. This temple has been marked as Shambhuni Gudi on Google Maps still no review and ratings, in fact it is an ancient and magnificent temple. I noticed that from the eyes of most tourists this ancient temple is lost and tourists are not interested in its importance and magnificent architecture even though it is located in Warangal Fort.
It’s a walled campus and in the courtyard Infront of the temple is having a tall column of honor and temple is of Kakatiya’s favourite architectural style which is Bhoomija. Entrance porch, hall having the Shiv’s doorkeeper Nandi Infront of the Sanctum Sanctorum which is having Linga. Sanctum’s doorjamb is having little carvings and either side stone lattices. In another Sanctum Sri Anchu Lingeshwara Swamy image and for annual procession Planquin, drums etc. These are the original images of Kakatiya dynasty and later few images of various Hindu Deities are installed. It’s built of stone. Sanctum Sanctorum is having the bricks tower having Kalash. Stone pillars are supporting the entire roof.
It’s an ancient and historical Shiva temple having magnificent Architecture. It’s a major attraction among the devotees and tourists.
